The Westmount Horticultural Society meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month

The 2018 lineup includes:

  • Feb.13: Sheena Swirlz, coordinator of Urban Agriculture workshops at the Concordia Greenhouse, demonstrates the basics of creating TERRARIUMS, a popular new way to grow plants in a mini ecosystem.
  • Mar.13: Christine Barrie, biology professor at Marianopolis College with a master’s degree in entomology, will talk about beneficial and troublesome GARDEN INSECTS.
  • Apr.10: Dr. Marilyn Light, noted conservationist and expert on native Canadian orchids will reveal how and why orchids behave the way they do in her SECRETS OF OUR WILD ORCHIDS presentation.
  • May 8: Monica Giacomin, educator, herbalist, and creator of “HERBS on the Side” will introduce the WONDER OF WEEDS so you can enjoy the wild plants growing in your own back yard as food, drink and/or medicine.

Sept., Oct., Nov. and Dec. programs to follow.

2018 Membership fee $20. Guests: $5 at the door. Info: 514-233-2788.

Presentation starts at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. for tea, coffee and homemade sweets.
